OK bear with me. I need to get all metaphysicsubconciousiggityblah for just a moment.

All emotion is energy. All energy vibrates on a frequency. That frequency attracts MORE energy vibrating on the SAME frequency back to the source. That’s the Law of Attraction. That’s how This Stuff’s Working!

So, what’s that have to do with love? Well, love is an emotion. Loving energy vibrates on a frequency that attracts more love back to the source–which in this case, would be you? Do you want to attract love into your life? Then you need to vibrate on the love frequency. One powerful, amazing, and quite simple way to do this is through music.

I’ve learned (and have taught others) how to use music as a very powerful tool in your Emotional Energy arsenal. If you’re stuck in feelings you can’t shift out of–loneliness, doubt, fear, resentment–anything emotions that might be repelling love from your life, then music can give you an immediate boost, aligning you with the right energy. The best part about it is, all you have to do is press play.

Create a Loving playlist–either in your music library in your computer, on your smartphone or mp3 player, on a CD or on YouTube (my personal favorite). Fill the playlist with songs that put you into the energetic flow of love. Populate it with music that gets you in the vibration of the love you’re seeking for your life. Choose the tunes that make your heart sing out! Then, listen…listen until you feel the music, the lyrics, the beat, the love, sinking right into your heart and soul. You’ll know it because you’ll feel wonderful, even if you’re by yourself. If you feel the urge to sing–sing! Go deeper! Strengthen that vibration! Wanna dance? Move it and imagine that true love being right there in step with you.

Know that when you’re doing this, you’re not simply playing make believe. You are CREATING love, attracting love through your energetic vibration. Music is such a powerful tool. There’s no limit to the number of ways you can use it TODAY to step into alignment with what you want.

Requirements For My Next…

Does the ____ that showed up fit the bill? Give it a score and find out!

Here’s a funny new word that I’ve coined. It’s ok, I’m allowed to make up my own words. You can do it too, if having my permission means anything to you.

The word is “arafeminex” and it’s definition is ‘the requirements for my next _______’.

I’m not sure if this will catch on in the world at large, but since it’s just you and I right now, let me share with you what it has done for me.

I created my first arafeminex back in 2005, way before I ever learned about how This Stuff’s Working! But, once I learned about the Law of Attraction, I realized that the tool I created was attraction in action. It was me expressing my desire, in detail, focusing on exactly what I wanted, and believing it was possible for myself so much that I refused to settle for less.

Back then, I was looking for my next relationship. I had been single for several months and was going on one disastrous date after the other. I was chasing after people that weren’t interested in dating me and running from people I wasn’t interested in dating. It was frustrating and I felt like I was wasting time, energy and money, yet not enjoying life. At the time, I was a complainer and a blamer. Boy, did I complain. I also blamed the city I had just moved to, Los Angeles, for the drama and dissatisfaction I was experiencing on the social dating scene.

After one particular dramatic bad date, I decided I’d had enough. My dating life was horrible, but I did have plenty of fun when just hanging out with my new friends. I also really enjoyed my alone time. (I had been in intensely dependent back to back relationships for the prior three years.) So I made a conscious decision to stop dating, stop pursuing, and stop looking for love. I would just enjoy life, enjoy my new friends, my new city, my new job. I would enjoy myself. I used the spare time to get very clear on exactly what I wanted.

I opened up a document on my computer and created my first arafeminex, then titled Requirements For My Next Girlfriend (arafemingee-ef) On it, I listed out three PRE-REQUISITES to be met before I would even say yes to or ask for a first date. Then beneath that, I listed out the additional requirements by which those that I chose to go on a date with would be scored.

Once my arafemingee-ef was instituted, life got easier almost immediately. I went on a couple of dates with people that met the pre-requisites. After the date, I assigned them a score on my arafemingee-ef and then had an honest conversation with myself about whether or not I wanted to date them further.

What was amazing about the process is that those early arafemingee-efs revealed that I was NOT really into the person I had dated. I might have known that already inside, but seeing it on paper like that really helped me to REALIZE it, and make a conscious decision that would free me from drama and unhappiness. It also helped prevent me from ruining friendships.

So, if the person didn’t “pass”, it was easier for me to make the decision not to date them further based on something more tangible than my gut. Over the following few months, I completed three arafemingee-ef assessments before I met someone that got high scores on it. Wouldn’t you know, that one was THE ONE! In July 2013, we’ll have been together for seven years and have been ridiculously happily married for five years.

The arafeminex is great because if you have one, it means you’ve taking the crucial extra step beyond simply expressing what you want or need. You have focused on the Desire enough to clearly define its elements and its essence. By establishing these qualifications, you have a means to assess your progress towards what you want and a way to evaluate whether or not what shows up in your experience is an ACTUAL manifestation of your Desire, or something else.

It’s easy to want. It can be challenging to drill down into the details, and clearly define the full picture of what you want. Having an arafeminex gives you a very good start towards examining what you want, and making it happen.

I believe we should all have some arafeminex in our lives. I am sure you actually have some right now.

What are the requirements for your next job? Your next relationship? Your next home? Your next trip? Your next _______?

What elements, characteristics and traits that must be present in order for the next ______ to be allowed access to your life?

What characteristics must NOT be present? (The things you don’t want tell you a lot about what you do want.)

You have the power to shape your life. Make your measure of success a matter of how CLOSE what you’re manifesting in your life is to what you truly want. Have the courage to say “No thanks” to the things that don’t meet the criteria.

The Law of Attraction: If Wishing Made It So…

A GOAL without a PLAN is just a WISH

Let’s get real.

Understanding and applying the Law of Attraction is not about making wishes, then sitting around waiting for them to come true. There is a lot of skepticism and criticism aimed at the Law of Attraction because a lot of it has been oversimplified so drastically. I am not knocking those that tout and believe in the power of positive thinking. A positive attitude is certainly essential.

But, if wishing made it so, everyone on earth would have what they want–and everyone in the world would be wearing a This Stuff’s Working bracelet and buying my book (my personal wishes)!

No my friends, this is not a place where you will be told that ALL you have to do is think positive, feel good, and SHAZAM! This Stuff’s Working! Face it. The only magic genie in this process is you.

There is a quote by Antoine De Saint-Exupéry that says, “A goal without a plan is just a wish.” Do some wishes come true? Absolutely. But for the most part, we don’t have the kind of lives we live because we wished for it. Our lives, and the things and people in them, are the result of ACTIONS we have taken to attract them. Truly, your wish is YOUR command.

Ask yourself, what dictates the actions I take, or don’t take, on a daily basis? You act on your beliefs. Your beliefs are driven by feelings. Your feelings are a summation of your thoughts. This is how thoughts become things. This is what like attracts like means. This is the Law of Attraction.

If we take that the other way, thoughts become feelings, feelings shape beliefs, and belief drives action. That’s the way This Stuff’s Working!–with action. You have to do something. You have to plan, you have to try, you have to ask, you have to do the doings–all while keeping your thoughts and feelings powerfully focused to serve your intention. This is certainly not the first blog to share this information, so I wouldn’t be surprised at all if you’ve heard this all before. But, are you applying it in your life? Are you proving it’s working? That’s the goal of this blog, not innovation.

So, how do you know if you are wishing versus attracting? Here’s a few tips:

  • If you think about wanting something once or twice, then forget about it, you are wishing.
    • If you remain regularly focused on a desire and all of its details, you are attracting.
  •  If you look at something and say, “*sigh* That would be nice, but…” , you are wishing.
    • If you look at something and say “Wow! That will be wonderful and I’ve got something that can get me started towards having it for myself!”, you are attracting.
  •  If you want or need something, but your emotional state about it is depression, anxiety, or resentment, you are wishing.
    • If you want or need something, and your emotional state about it is grateful, expectant and optimistic, you are attracting.
  •  If you go on and on about how much you want something, then don’t lift a finger to try and get it, you are wishing.
    • If you express a desire, then immediately begin to brainstorm what you can do now to take a step closer to it, you are attracting.
  • If you put some pictures on a board, then walk away from it without another thought, it’s a wishing board.
    • If you have a visual collection of things you desire that you view, meditate on, affirm and update regularly, visualizing those things manifested and tracking your actions and progress towards those things, it’s a vision board.

Do you catch the drift here?

The divide between wishing and attracting is a stream, not an ocean. It is a short journey to cross over from one to the other. Start by focusing on what you want. Stop making excuses and start believing that there is a way to receive what you want. Get your emotions in tune with the desire. GET TO WORK! And, do more than want it–VISUALIZE yourself having it.

Wishing is easy, with a high failure rate.

Attracting is simple, with a high success rate.

You Are What You Say You Are

Are you working on your ROAR?

How do you talk about yourself? Are you more likely to praise or criticize yourself? Do you compliment yourself and highlight your strengths, or are you more likely to confess your flaws and shortcomings?It’s so important to watch what you say about yourself. Every time you open a mouth and begin a sentence with the word “I”, you are creating yourself as you speak. This Stuff’s Working! means that like attracts like and your thoughts become things. Your words have the same creative power because they reflect your thoughts. You are what you say you are.

For example, if you say, “I have a “brown thumb. I can’t grow plants!” then guess what? Every plant or flower in your care will die before its time.

If you say, “I’m bad with children.” then working with kids will always be a challenge for you.

If you say, “I’m a terrible singer.” then every note will remain off-key.

If you say, “I am a horrible test taker.” then you will fail exams.

If you say, “I’m a bad cook.” then you will burn water.

If you say, “I’m so clumsy.” then you will constantly stumble.

Anything you say you are is true. You say it and life affirms it for you. That’s the way This Stuff’s Working! The problem is the tendency to focus on, and say, the wrong things about yourself and your life. As a result, you might have more evidence of the things you don’t do well than confidence in the areas that you are improving or currently excel in. It’s time for a shift. Do yourself a HUGE favor and apply the same truth to good or desired things with similar confidence.

If you can be so sure of the things you can’t do, why not apply this power towards constructive thoughts that will actually create what you desire for yourself? It’s the same power. All that is required is a change of thinking, rephrasing how you speak about yourself, and feeling the same confidence in your abilities as you previously felt in your inabilities. It’s a simple, but powerful shift in your conversation.

Start saying:

“I’m getting good at…”
“I’m really good at…”
“I’m still learning to…”

These statements affirm your ability, increase your confidence, and as a result you attract more evidence of this into your life.

Many of us don’t realize how much we degrade and depreciated ourselves everyday. It’s become so second nature for those who have not yet learned or embraced how This Stuff’s Working! to feel inadequate or not good enough. A lot of us even laugh at our flaws. There’s nothing wrong with that, if you do so with full love, appreciation and acceptance of who you are. But if you want to change something about yourself, please know that the the very first step to changing is NOT to take some direct action in the world without, but to instantly go within and see your perfection in your mind.

Feel yourself mastering the creation of your desires, trust that you will learn all that you need to know, and feel yourself succeeding at it now. This feels much better than resolving to fail. Change the “I’m bad at…” thoughts to align with your ideal vision of yourself. This way, when you go to learn, you will be fully receptive, and skills are acquired through practice.

You are attracting all that you are, all that you do, all that you have, by what you think, feel, and say. Use this knowledge wisely and rightly, and watch what you become as a result. This Stuff’s Working! always–keep it working FOR you.

Thoughts Become Things – Your Mental Traffic Light

Let’s try something…

Visualize in your mind that you are driving down a road. There’s a little traffic, but it’s moving freely at the speed limit.

Ahead is an intersection with a traffic light. The light is green, but as you approach, it turns yellow for a brief moment, then quickly changes to red. Traffic stops. You stop with it. You sit and wait. Then, the light turns green, and traffic begins to move again. You move along with it.

This simple and familiar routine that drivers experience everyday is a perfect metaphor for the Law of Attraction, or This Stuff, and how it’s working. The Law of Attraction says that like attracts like and your thoughts become things.

If you imagine that thoughts about your Desires are the green light, then you can imagine that when you are thinking those thoughts, you are able to move freely and closer towards them. You can plan. You can organize and use your resources. You can act and attract. Green means Go.

But there is a tendency to slow things down with the same tool–thoughts. If you begin to think thoughts that are unclear, doubtful, or apathetic, they become the yellow light. Progress towards what you want slows down. Yellow means Slow. It’s also a warning of an impending red light. A yellow light doesn’t last long before becoming red.

When you begin to think thoughts that don’t align with the Desire, such as thoughts of lack or impossibility, the light changes to red, and you MUST stop. Red means No. Your progress towards what you want is halted, because you do not see the green light anymore–your Desire.

So, you sit, and wait.
Red light (LACK: I don’t have it…)
Red light (IMPOSSIBLE: …and I can’t…)
Red light (EXCUSE: …because of…)

Then, maybe you grow irritated (more red light).
You get impatient (more red light).
You become angry (more red light).
Then, because nothing is happening at this red light, you may begin to feel hopeless, and that the effort is futile (STOP!)

The great news is that red lights don’t remain red forever.

While driving on an actual road, you don’t have control over the timing of traffic lights. However, you do have complete control over the traffic signal of your focused thoughts.

More good news is that from red light thoughts, can jump IMMEDIATELY back to green, quickly and safely, by shifting your thoughts back to the Desire and your plan to achieve it.

As soon as you do, things get moving again, and you can continue on the journey towards destination Manifested! Assuming you don’t keep catching the red lights…

You can use visualization to help you keep your thoughts on track. For example, the next time you’re at a traffic light, assuming it’s safe to do so, take a moment to observe it in relation to your thoughts. Or, you can save and print this image:

Thoughts Become Things

Post it where you can see it often. Use it to remind yourself of how This Stuff’s Working! Whenever you see this image, or a real traffic light, assess the condition of your thoughts in that moment. Is your mental traffic light green, moving you towards your Desire? Are you working your plan as you coast through the green light?

Is your mental traffic light yellow with fear, worry, anger or whatever slowing you down?

Or, are you sitting at a mental red light with thoughts that oppose your Desire altogether?

By using this visual aide, you will become more aware of your thoughts, and grow inspired to keep your mental traffic light green at all costs. That means you’ll keep your focus on the Desire and your plan to Manifest it.

Nothing can stop you but you.

What’s This Stuff?!?! Law of Attraction 101

This Stuff is the Law of Attraction.

This site won’t rehash what hundreds of other people are doing all over the world and web, which is exploring and teaching the scientific and metaphysical theories, what I call “sub-conscious-iggety-blah”, behind the Law of Attraction (the stuff behind the stuff…) No honey, we’re keeping it real simple around these parts. If you want all the facts, all the science, all the details, then Google “Law of Attraction”, clear your schedule for a year or five, and start reading! But, if you really want to quickly understand the basics of the Law of Attraction, here they are:

1. Like attracts like.

What you put out, you get back. What you give, you get. Everything and everyone around you is vibrating energy, and that energy attracts other things and people vibrating on the same frequency. This is just the way this stuff works.

2. Thoughts become things.

That noise you hear between your ears all day and night is more than just riff-raff. Those are your thoughts, and each one has powerful energy behind it. An energy so powerful that when you concentrate it around a single object or belief, it can intensify the attractive power of the mind to the point of manifestation.

3. Your feelings and beliefs can turn thought into physical manifestations.

Since our thoughts are always going, it’s impossible to monitor or control each thought. Nor is it possible for each thought to manifest an immediate like creation. It’s not thinking alone that does anything for you. It’s really the emotions, the feelings, the powerful beliefs behind your thoughts that trigger creation. Feelings keep you vibrating on a certain frequency long enough to attract something like what you are feeling. Beliefs keep you returning to the same thought patterns over and over again, creating the cycle by which we live, and create our lives. Feelings drive us towards, or away, from action.

4. This Stuff’s Working…for you or against you. It’s your choice.

Here’s the bottom line on this stuff. We’re not always thinking good things. We’re not always thinking bad things. We don’t always feel good or bad either. As a result, a mix of things happen to us. What’s behind what we get, and what we don’t get, are the choices we make and the actions we take as a result of those choices. There is a choice between good and bad. You can choose to think good thoughts, and feel good feelings, and keep beliefs that align with what we want, then act and manifest accordingly. Alternatively, you can choose to think bad thoughts, feel bad feelings, and carry beliefs that don’t serve your highest good, then act and manifest accordingly.  We can choose how to feel, where to concentrate our thoughts, and as a result, our beliefs can change. The choice, the power, is ours to be aware of, and use to our advantage at all times, IF WE MAKE THAT CHOICE.

Stop and think about the truth of the three statements above for a moment. It should become crystal clear to you that there is a connection between what your life looks like, and how you have been thinking, and feeling, and believing. That connection may excite you if you’re generally happy and pleased with your life. It may make you skeptical you if your life looks nothing like you would hope. Either of those reactions are GREAT, because in either case, you likely feel ready to do more about it, either to make a good thing better, or to prove it works (or doesn’t). No matter which side you land on, it makes you JUST THE RIGHT kind of person to join the This Stuff’s Working Experiment.

I hope you will. I’ve been testing this theory for years, and over that time, I’ve collected INSURMOUNTABLE EVIDENCE that the Law of Attraction, This Stuff, is really working. This Stuff is ALWAYS working. I started too from a place of skepticism, and from a life that was filled with more of what I didn’t want than what I did. Over time, as I attracted more like-minded people into my life, as I studied and applied the principles, as I tested and proved that this power does indeed exist, my skepticism became inspiration, and my life became less coincidental and turbulent, and more intentional and harmonious.
